Do you think that Postman was correct in saying that Huxley's vision is more true today then Orwells?

Huxleys vision - where people medicate themselves into bliss and voluntarily sacrifice their rights

Orwell's vision - which totalitarian governments seize individual rights

I have to write an essay deciding whose vision fits the world today more than the other.

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. It is just your opinion kinda sorta.. lol..Do you think that Postman was correct in saying that Huxley's vision is more true today then Orwells?
What's your opinion? Start with that as your lead-in to the essay. For example, ';I believe that ______ vision is more accurate than _____.'; Explain briefly why you feel that way. Then you need a paragraph or two citing examples that support your assertion. In conclusion, wrap it up by restating/paraphrasing your overall assertion.Do you think that Postman was correct in saying that Huxley's vision is more true today then Orwells?
In the United States, I'd say that Huxley's vision is more true today. That being said, in most parts of the world the opposite is true, especially in underdeveloped countries. People in this county think they have it so bad living on $50,000 while others around the world are feeding families on $20 a month. Even with so much wealth and material possessions, people feel the need to overmedicate, mostly on anti-depressants and pain killers (hence medicating themselves into bliss). Most counties can't even afford pain killers for those who really need them to alleviate true suffering.

If refering only to the United States, I see no correlation to Orwells vision. People have too many individual rights that they lose perspective. They usually don't appreciated the numerous, protected rights that are afforded to them.
